Biography

David Ell announces himself with his debut album, Wreckingball, a record full of dark, brooding and powerful songs. A subtle arrangement of guitar and piano lead melodies reflecting heavily on themes of loss of innocence, faith and love. According to recent album reviews this album is ”epic”, ” a big big sound” and ”draws favourable comparison with great songwriters like U2 and Radiohead”.

Born in Sheffield, his family moved to Scotland when he was young and he grew up in Falkland, a small village in Fife, before going on to achieve a first class degree in law at Edinburgh University. As well as having written and produced his debut album, he writes piano and music scores for use in films and TV and is currently finalising his second album which, with more than a hint of classical influences, promises to be an arresting change of direction from the indie pop rock sound of his debut feature.

David also plays both solo acoustic sets and separately as part of a five piece band - and can presently be found playing tracks from the debut album as well as new songs at various venues across the country.

As a singer, songwriter and composer, David Ell is a force to be reckoned with.
